Summary:
Used 1967 Triumph TR4A
Location:
Utica, MI
Description:
FOR SALE: 1967 Triumph TR4A After searching for a mostly rust free solid TR4A for several years we found this one stored in the back of the previous owners garage. It is a very original car that has all of its original body panels. The car had been in storage for many years and after cleaning out the fuel lines and changing the oil it started right up. We wanted to keep the car as original as possible as it appeared to be an unmolested time capsule and appeared to have had only a few owners and low mileage, but we can not confirm it just an observation. As mentioned it has all its original body panels, engine, gauges, interior door panels, interior back and side panels, and seat belts. As far as we know the car has never been apart or engine removed. In trying to keep the car as original as possible we replaced or repaired just what was needed to make a very nice original example without a total body off restoration. The engine compartment, trunk, and door jams were left as is with its original paint as this is the look we wanted. In keeping with the original plan we also left a service sticker in one of the door jams that looks to be from the 60's or 70's from Brea California. We were also able to preserve two decals on the windshield and rear view mirror dating back to the 80's. Here is a list of the parts that we replaced or repaired. The body was about 98% rust free with the exception of a silver dollar size hole under the battery, and one the same size at the driver and passenger front floor that was repaired. The car was sent to a body shop and all the dents and dings were removed then repainted its original British Racing Green. Radiator flushed and painted, generator and starter rebuilt, fuel pump rebuilt, front brake calipers rebuilt with stainless pistons, brake and clutch arms rebuilt. New parts include radiator hoses and clamps, radiator duct, thermostat and gaskets, heater hoses and clamps, heater water control valve, fan belt, pvc hoses, ignition wires, plugs, distributor cap rotor condenser points and vacuum advance, valve cover gasket, rear wheel cylinders and hoses, brake master cylinder, clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder, wiper motor mounts, tie rod ends, upper ball joints, battery, battery hold down and cables, tires and tubes, all weather strips and seals, dash pads, console cover, carpet, floor mats, glove box, floor mats, stainless fender trim, and a NOS top from the 80's. The seats were recovered some time before we acquired the car and were in nice shape so we left them as is. We have the original bumpers but never decided to have them re-chromed or replaced. We're sure there were other parts but this should cover the majority of them. Included will be most if not all the parts we replaced and a few spares. Mechanically the car runs and drives well and could be used as is or taken to what ever level the new owner desires. If we were to keep the car we would deal with the bumpers, have the carburetors gone through, and possibly a u joint replacement. The car has a clear NC title and some documentation going back to 1970. Please email with questions and I will be happy to address any questions you may have. $16,500 OBO
