THE CAR IS LISTED ON HAGERTY MARKETPLACE AUCTIONS CURRENTLY, SEELINK BELOW:https://www.hagerty.com/drivers-club/my-garage/marketplace/auction/3R57YcnHYwueNxgAcA4ufv1971 Dodge Challenger Convertible - Same Owner For 29 Years -Original Build Sheet - Original Owners Manual - Original Fender Tag- Non Matching 383ci V8 - Automatic Transmission - 25k Miles TMU -Red Exterior With White Convertible Top - White Interior There issomething special about Challenger convertibles. Not many were madein the E-Body configuration like the car you see here. Just 1,793were produced for the '71 model year, which is the fewest of any ofthe Challenger convertible production years. Not many are aroundany more, though there are a few great examples of the classicconvertible like this one to be found. This car was with the sameowner for the last 29 years. There was a sense of pride with thiscar so it was well maintained, and responsibly enjoyed over time. The car you see here is a 1971 Dodge Challenger Convertiblefinished in Red over a white interior, and capped with a white top.The mechanical odometer shows approximately 25,572 miles, thoughtrue mileage is unknown. Immediately noticeable are the horizontalwhite stripes of the R/T stripe kit, which provide a nice contrastto the red paint. Speaking of the paint, it shows nice even glossand is bright. The body panels line up as they should, and all trimand chrome shows nicely. It's not unheard of, but it would beunexpected to have a muscle car like this that didn't have a few ofthe following items; hood pins, a spoiler, special badging, or somesort of stripes on the exterior. This car has all of theaforementioned accessories, as well as a fancy flip-top fuel fillercap and a performance hood. The rolling stock consists of rallywheels with beauty rings and hubcaps, which are wrapped in whiteletter BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. The power top is in greatcondition, though we hope that the top is only used in those peskysituations where a surprise rain storm has popped up. Top downdriving in this car is a treat. Wind in your hair, and the sound ofthe 383 V8 rumbling is therapeutic. Those who have driven, or satin a Challenger of this vintage can appreciate the lineup of gaugeson the dash in front of the driver, and the center console that iscontoured around the t-handle shifter. In this Challenger, athree-spoke steering wheel, faux-wood trim, aftermarket radio, andfactory tachometer are items we'd like to point out. The power topis operated with a toggle switch found on the dashboard to the leftof the steering wheel. The interior shows very well, save for alittle discoloration on the door panel on the passenger's side ofthe car. Otherwise the interior is well kept with trim, doorhandles, seatbelts, seat trim, and carpeting being clean and ingood condition. A big part of the appeal of a car like this iswhat's under the fancy hood. In this case, it's a replacement 383ciV8 mated to an automatic transmission. The 383 pumps out enoughpower to keep a smile on your face while driving the car to thetune of about 300 horsepower. The engine is fed through adual-snorkel air cleaner, and it looks a little sportier thanks toa coat of orange engine paint on the engine block, valves, andvalve covers. With Challenger convertibles being rare when new, andfew and far between nowadays, MOPAR fans should take notice of thisspecial car. These don't come up for sale often. Having been aprized possession to the same owner for the last 29 years, it hasbeen well cared for, and respectfully enjoyed over the years. Please call if interested or e-mail with specific questions.
