Similar in concept to the AC Cobra, the Sunbeam Tiger was another classic British roadster infused with an American V8. In fact, both were Ford-powered, with initial engineering by Shelby American. This 1966 Sunbeam Tiger Convertible has been restored, according to the seller, who is representing the vehicle on consignment. The restoration appears older. Based on the VIN, the car appears to be a later Mark 1 example that’s had an engine upgrade from the original 260 V8 to a larger-displacement 289. “There are no problems with the car and it’s in great condition,” says the seller. FEATURES The original 289-powered Tigers used a two-barrel induction system to make 200 horsepower.The 289-cu.in. OHV V8 in this example has been upgraded to a four-barrel carburetor.A four-speed manual transmission backs the engine.There are no reported powertrain issues with the car.The exterior was resprayed the original Cardinal Red during the restoration.The paint finish appears in very good condition, with no reported blemishes.A color-matched hardtop is included and also appears in very good shape.The black vinyl cockpit appears to show well, with little apparent wear in the seat covers or carpet.The door panels and instrument panel trim also appear in very good condition.There are no reported functional issues with the Jaeger gauges or other interior features.The chassis appears to have been undercoated for corrosion resistance.There are no reported issues with the suspension or brakes.Hankook radial tires are mounted on the correct Minilite-type 14-inch aluminum wheels.
